Sounds impossible?

That's exactly what the internet does every single day.

Only...

It doesn't know your name.

It knows your patterns.

And somehow...

that's even more powerful.

We Think AI Knows Everything.

It doesn't.

This is one of the biggest misconceptions about AI.

People imagine AI as this all-knowing brain that understands everything about us.

Reality is much less dramatic.

And somehow...

much more fascinating.

AI doesn't know who you are.

It learns how you behave.

There's a huge difference.

Every Scroll Leaves a Clue.

This is where things get interesting.

Most people think they're just scrolling.

They're not.

They're leaving behind tiny clues.

You pause on a travel reel.

A clue.

You skip a cooking video after two seconds.

Another clue.

You replay a recipe because it looked amazing.

One more clue.

You save a skincare post.

Another clue.

You ignore ten football videos in a row.

That's a clue too.

On their own?

None of these actions really mean anything.

But together...

They start telling a story.

Not about your name.

Not about your age.

Not even about your personality.

They tell a story about your habits.

And that's exactly what AI is looking for.

It isn't trying to figure out who you are.

Behind the Screen...

Let's pull back the curtain.

When you open Instagram...

Thousands of posts are waiting.

Obviously, Instagram can't show all of them.

So before your feed even loads...

AI starts ranking them.

Not randomly.

Not alphabetically.

It quietly asks questions like:

"How likely is this person to stop scrolling?"

"Will they like this?"

"Will they share it?"

"Will they watch it twice?"

Every post receives a prediction score.

The highest scores rise to the top.

The rest quietly disappear.

You're not seeing the internet.

You're seeing the version the algorithm thinks you'll enjoy most.

Here's the Crazy Part.

You don't need to tell AI anything.

You never typed,

"I love matcha."

But you watched three café videos.

Saved one recipe.

Clicked a matcha review.

Suddenly...

Your feed is full of coffee shops.

The algorithm didn't read your mind.

It connected the dots.

That's what modern AI is incredibly good at.

Not reading thoughts.

Finding patterns.

So... What Is the "Secret Version" of You?

No, there isn't a hidden profile labeled:

"This is Charita."

Think of it more like a constantly updating puzzle.

A little piece comes from your searches.

Another from your likes.

Another from your scrolling speed.

Another from the videos you replay.

Another from what you ignore.

Another from when you're online.

One piece tells AI almost nothing.

Millions of pieces?

Now it starts recognizing patterns.

Not your personality.

Your probability.

Wait...

That word matters.

Probability.

AI isn't saying,

"She definitely wants this."

It's saying,

"Based on everything we've seen... there's a high chance she'll like this."

That's why your feed is sometimes perfect...

and sometimes hilariously wrong.

It's making educated guesses.

Really...

Really fast ones.

The Question I Can't Stop Thinking About.

Everyone says AI predicts us.

Maybe.

But here's the thought that keeps following me around.

If AI keeps deciding what we see first...

Does it slowly influence what we become interested in?

Imagine discovering your favorite artist because Spotify recommended them.

Finding your dream destination because Instagram kept showing travel reels.

Buying a book because TikTok wouldn't stop talking about it.

Were those interests always yours?

Or did they quietly grow because an algorithm introduced them?

I don't have the answer.

But I think it's a question worth asking.

Fast forward to today.

That same coffee shop sounds completely different.

Someone is building an AI startup.

A student is using ChatGPT to study.

A designer is generating logos with AI.

A lawyer is asking AI to summarize contracts.

Your grandmother probably knows what ChatGPT is.

So...

What happened?

Did the entire world suddenly become computer scientists?

Not quite.

AI Didn't Suddenly Become Smart.

It suddenly became accessible.

Artificial Intelligence has existed for decades,

Think about smartphones.

Before the iPhone, smartphones already existed.

But they weren't designed for everyone.

Then Apple arrived and said,

"What if technology felt... effortless?"

ChatGPT did something similar for Artificial Intelligence.

AI had existed for decades.

Researchers were publishing papers.

Companies were training models.

Engineers were building systems.

Most people simply never interacted with them.

Then, suddenly...

You could open a browser.

Ask a question.

And receive an answer in seconds.

No coding.

No installation.

No technical degree.

That's when AI stopped being "technology."

It became an experience.

💄 The Sephora Analogy

Imagine Sephora launches a foundation.

Within a week...

TikTok is obsessed.

Instagram is obsessed.

Your friends are obsessed.

People who have never worn foundation before suddenly have opinions.

Did everyone become a makeup artist overnight?

Of course not.

They became interested because something once intimidating suddenly felt approachable.

That's exactly what happened with AI.

People weren't suddenly becoming experts.

They were becoming participants.

🤖 Okay, But What Actually Is AI?

Here's where the internet often oversimplifies things.

Artificial Intelligence is not one technology.

It's an entire family of technologies.

Inside that family you'll find:

• Machine Learning

• Computer Vision

• Natural Language Processing

• Speech Recognition

• Robotics

• Recommendation Systems

• Generative AI

• Large Language Models

When someone says,

"AI is amazing."

They're usually referring to just one branch:

Generative AI.

And even more specifically...

Large Language Models.

Like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Llama.

If AI Isn't New...

Why Does It Feel Like It Is?

Because breakthroughs don't always happen when the technology is invented.

Sometimes they happen when the technology becomes usable.

Electricity existed before light bulbs filled homes.

The internet existed before social media connected billions.

Touchscreens existed before smartphones became everyday devices.

AI existed before ChatGPT.

ChatGPT simply gave millions of people a front-row seat.

💅 Main Character Moment

Here's something that surprised me while learning about AI.

Most people imagine AI as a giant brain.

That's not really what it is.

Think of your favorite friend.

The one who's watched every romantic comedy ever made.

Without realizing it...

They've started noticing patterns.

Who's secretly in love.

Who's about to break up.

Who's obviously the villain.

Not because they've memorized every script.

Because they've seen enough examples to recognize what usually comes next.

Modern language models learn in a surprisingly similar way.

Not by memorizing every webpage.

But by learning patterns across enormous amounts of text.

They're extraordinary pattern recognizers.

🚨 Reality Check

Now for the part that social media rarely mentions.

AI is impressive.

But it isn't magical.

It doesn't "know" things the way people do.

It can misunderstand context.

It can confidently make mistakes.

It can invent information.

Sometimes...

It sounds incredibly convincing while being completely wrong.

And oddly enough...

That's one of the most fascinating things about modern AI.

The biggest misconception about AI isn't that it's dangerous.

It's that it's new.
